Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the gained 0.21%, while the index gained 0.77%, and the index added 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:), which rose 2.43% or 0.560 points to trade at 23.610 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:) added 1.66% or 1.460 points to end at 89.270 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:) was up 1.54% or 2.150 points to 142.150 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:), which fell 2.36% or 0.179 points to trade at 7.421 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:) declined 1.54% or 1.310 points to end at 83.490 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:) was down 1.11% or 0.200 points to 17.800.

The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:) which rose 3.55% to 4.95, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:) which was up 2.82% to settle at 59.100 and Salzgitter AG (DE:) which gained 2.58% to close at 36.750.

The worst performers were Fraport AG (DE:) which was down 0.89% to 57.800 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:) which lost 0.71% to settle at 39.350 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:) which was down 0.63% to 31.405 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which rose 7.38% to 7.379, RIB Software AG Na (DE:) which was up 6.29% to settle at 13.105 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:) which gained 3.12% to close at 8.899.

The worst performers were S&T AG (F:) which was down 1.11% to 8.806 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:) which lost 0.75% to settle at 47.440 and Drillisch AG (DE:) which was down 0.67% to 41.350 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 474 to 262 and 22 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.14% to 14.78.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.09% or 1.15 to $ 1235.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.02% or 1.07 to hit $ 54.07 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.12% or 1.18 to trade at $ 56.81 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0646, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8517.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 100.66.
