Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the added 0.85% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the were Select Textile (AT:), which rose 8.23% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.171 at the close. Meanwhile, National Bank of Greece (AT:) added 4.00% or 0.01 points to end at 0.26 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:) was up 3.65% or 0.070 points to 1.990 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:), which fell 9.50% or 0.0170 points to trade at 0.1620 at the close. Centric Hold (AT:) declined 4.76% or 0.005 points to end at 0.100 and Bank of Cyprus PCL (AT:) was down 3.10% or 0.004 points to 0.125.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 64 to 38 and 14 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.45% or 5.25 to $ 1172.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.92% or 0.46 to hit $ 50.23 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.42 to trade at $ 53.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.40% to 1.0604, while EUR/GBP fell 0.93% to 0.8439.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.97% at 101.25.
